Another trip to Newport Beach on the cards.

Anything other than Sidedoor worth checking out in that region?

Hello all. I'm traveling for a conference and will be in West Hollywood on Feb. 4 and DTLA Feb. 5-7. My hotel in downtown is about a 5 min walk from Modern Time's Dojo, so besides scarfing down some dillas, what are some other breweries/bars/stores I should visit?

Already planning on a trip to Torrance for Monkish and Smog City. Hopefully that Vienna lager is still kicking at Monkish by then.

tosh , dead drop me some Fieldwork cans thx

also, l-o-l at this Thrillist article from 2015: https://www.thrillist.com/drink/los-angeles/the-11-best-breweries-in-la-experts-picks

"3. MONKISH BREWING CO., 40 POINTS
Torrance
Henry Nguyen and his crew don't play into the promotional game as much as the other breweries, which means his complex and delicious Belgian-style beers do the talking themselves (sorry, hop heads: no IPAs here)."

Closest breweries to the Newport Beach area are Barley Forge and Gunwhale ... they are located literally across the street from eachother and makes for a very convenient 2-for-1 stop ... not the best brews in the world, but not offensive either ... I would hit them both up. Barley Forge has very tasty food FYI.

Anyone try Homage Autobahn unfiltered pilsner yet?
I tried it last year. It was ok. Not one of my favorites from Homage, and not one of my favorite craft lagers of late (America's Preference, Timbo/Danbo, and of course Pivo and Prima have all kept me coming back over the last 3-6 months).

Haven't had this new batch of Autobahn. But it's definitely worth trying this and future batches, imo, to see the Homage guys dial things in and hopefully get the beer to that magic place. Matt and Jeremiah are awesome guys and great brewers, and I've known Jeremiah in particular for a long, long time, and I know his tastes in beer very well... I have confidence they'll keep improving their beers to get the full lineup in the same lofty realm as their fantastic barrel-aged sour and funky stuff. Some of their clean beers are already in the conversation, I'd say-- Donde Esta La Playa, recent batches of We've Been Had, for instance... I just wish I could get out to the brewery more often so I could try everything they make.

I can't wait for Americas Preference cans.

I wasn't a fan either.

Meanwhile, the Monkish Vienna Lager (Walk on By) is humming right along right now. Had one last and it was just great.

The best beer for me though is the new batch of Subliminal Sequel (belgian hoppy blonde w/ sterling & citra). It's 3.9% which is down from before which was 4.9 or 4.5%. I want to go back just for that. So good.

Those are both fantastic beers, and both very much slept on by the monkish haze bros. I wish they would can them but growler fills work for me.

Thanks for the offer. I don't doubt I'll still have the ability to buy bottles I want; just surprised at how quick that went.
I imagine most of the memberships went to Beer Friends which had 2 days to buy it, then whatever was left available went today -- probably not too many spots. All guesses but I think that's what happened.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking happened. I was waiting to buy it this morning and promptly got slammed at work and forgot to purchase before the Beer Friends sale ended.

Oh well, no big. Bummed I missed out on the swag and the discount, but I'm not going to visit them any less.
