Uh, can somebody from OC explain this? Because if this is a recent thing, ISO.

I found it posted in a random beer group on Facebook this morning. Asked about release/distro details, and got silence in return.

I could be wrong, but that looks like Mr. K's. I seem to remember Mike posting something about Hoparazzi a while ago but not really in a "these bottles are for sale" kind of way.

Yup, this was Mr. K's from last year.

"New brewery is in town soon. Here is a glipse whats about to come. This bottle is not for sale. Just a teaser #hoparazzi Mission Impechable #sour #beer #microbrew #craftbeer #craftbeerporn #craftbeergeek #beeergeek #instabeer #beerpulse #mrksliquor #placentia"

Beer release news out of El Segundo Brewing Co.:

Melon Collie, this Friday, 9/12
There is a LOT Coming up this month, as the new tanks have afforded us space to play!

Melon Collie is a version of White Dog IPA fermented with green flesh heirloom melons of the Galia type, called Carava and Ogen. These highly aromatic fruits lend an interesting note and texture to our White Dog, and we hope you will join us at the release.

You may remember we made about 30 gallons of this beer last year, which evaporated in just a few hours.. but this year we made 300! Our new 15bbl tanks will be used to make such specialties that will still be almost exclusive to the taproom.. but will also make them available in GROWLERS!

Starting Friday evening.. come on down for a taste of Melon Collie, grab a pint, or take some home.
New Beers and Release Dates:

Two 5 Left - not new, but coming back next Tuesday 9/16!

Wallet Dropper DIPA - Sunday 9/21
(draft and growler only)

Power Plant - Saturday 9/27
(draft, bottles, and 32oz growler only)
** will also feature the release of our Simcoe Wet Hop IPA **

Excited to see Power Plant coming back and in bottles this time!

At first glance, nothing terribly exciting. Lots of stuff I haven't tried yet, but nothing I want to stand in line for more than 30 seconds.

At first glance, nothing terribly exciting. Lots of stuff I haven't tried yet, but nothing I want to stand in line for more than 30 seconds.

Lots of double & triple IPAs on that list. I'll be cool waiting a full minute or two on a line to try some new things while I attempt to stay relatively sober during a 7hr festival!

Quick question - Is there a preferred Beachwood BBQ location? A few friends and I will be out there in November for The Festival, and we are curious if one is better than the other (Seal vs Long Beach)?

You're going to want to hit the Long Beach location if you're looking to try Beachwood beers. The Long Beach location is their brew pub and where they have all of their available beers on draft along with 15-25 outside beers on draft. The Seal Beach location is 25-30 beers on draft 3 or 4 of which are Beachwood beers (typically) The Seal Beach location is smaller and has a much more impressive bottle list.

Edit:
Forgot to add the link to their hop cam. You can flip back and forth between the two locations and it shows the Long Beach house brews on tap at Long Beach.

You must hit the Seal Beach location. Bottle list is bonkers.

bottle list at Seal is bonkers, but the Long Beach location is closer to the Festival and has a huge board of house beers. I don't think I got a guest tap there once.

Not sure the best place to post this so doing it here.

I am flying into SNA on Wednesday (10/15) morning. Seeing a customer in Santa Fe Springs before lunch and then flying out of SNA at 4:50. I have time for lunch somewhere if anyone is near and game....

Ready to have your Phoenix Club cherry popped?

My Brother-in-law recently opened his brewery. He is producing some great beers and I recommend wholeheartedly that you go to The Good Beer Company on 4th street in Downtown Santa Ana.

They have three beers, a hoppy pale wheat, a saison, and a Brett beer. This weekend they are also pouring the saison and pale with citra and the saison aged on dried sour cactus.

When you go in tell them that Kevin sent you.

Been looking forward to Good Beer Co. Any non-biased reviews?

Speaking of newer breweries...King Harbor's mosaic pale ale is fantastic. Seek it out.

Nice dude, I forgot you told me that at SARA last weekend. I was at my mom's in Santa Ana a couple days ago but forgot....I'll get over there soon!

Confirmed that StarRaptor is in, and Usofar may take the day off.

EliotRosewater been a while, you game?

Total side note, anyone planning to hit up barley forge's opening?

I really wanted to but schedule change again and now I have a 60 hour week next week. 4 12 hour shifts Mon-Thurs and then a trip to South Lake Tahoe for a 7 am meeting on Friday.

I'm game for whenever, having a meeting at 4:15 but free and clear otherwise.

blue_bleeder StarRaptor 12:30 cool? I can order for everyone if times going to be an issue

I believe that will work. This is my itinerary:

Land at 905am at SNA. No luggage, picked up by car at airport. Meeting immediately when I get to my customer (hopefully by 10).
Leave there (hopefully by noon) and head to Phoenix Club then back to the airport.

The monkish night at Beachwood yesterday was a great time! Monkish is putting out some solid farmhouse ales which I'm really enjoying now.

And how about the 3 days of tap takeovers at Beachwood leading up to Shelton Bros fest! Crooked stave, Cantillon, 3F, de Molen and Hill Farmstead!

If you are interested check out @thegoodbeerco on Instagram for information about next weeks grand opening weekend. I will be there Friday and Saturday if you want to say hello.

Anyone give a **** about Bottle Logic's BA stout being released tomorrow? 16oz bottle for 20 bucks, bottled yesterday, first time they've bottled a -bal on a decent scale. Pass.

I only give a **** because a trading partner asked me if I could get one. Told him, if I found myself down there I would but couldn't guarantee anything. Have yet to be impressed with anything from them enough to make the hour drive down.

Had it at Shelton Bros fest and it was killer...but there are a lot of reasons not to get it.

While I'm sure it's a perfectly cromulent beer, the price and hastiness of the release scare me away. Many other beers like this get released after 2 days in the bottle? Plus I've not had anything better than good from BL, and today is the wurst traffic day of the year, not like it'll sell out today anyhow. I'll buy another Pugachev or bcbs 4pk instead.

LA/OC peeps: I’ll be going from Santa Clarita to San Diego this coming Sunday. I plan on stopping at MacLeod’s at opening. What other breweries should I go to? I’ve been to El Segundo, Smog City, Monkish, Eagle Rock, the Beachwoods, The Bruery, Noble, and Bottle Logic, and want to try something new. Not terribly interested in going to Golden Road but I will if I don’t get any other suggestions.

There's Good Beer and Barley forge in northern OC, and Bottle logic.
Ack, that’s embarrassing – I actually know Kevin, but I keep forgetting he’s not at Latitude 33 anymore. I’ll definitely make that a stop.

+10 for the use of cromulent.
