Pride of cHops IPA Brewed & bottled by Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach, CA 7.1% ABV 99+ IBUs Retail Price: $8/22oz bottle.

Looking forward to another great IPA from BW. Does anyone know or can anyone explain why all their IPAs clock in at 7.1% abv? I'm not complaining--that's right in my wheelhouse--just wondering is all.

Probably because he is using the same recipe(except for the hops).

I'm more curious as to why they ost so ******* much in a bottle. I'd much rather go down there for a couple pints and growler fill. But I had the same thought as you as well.

Wholefoods and total wine in Tustin are close to you. The two mention above are great. Vendome in Fullerton is solid. Mr. Kegs in HB is a good if you're in the area.

Anything worthwhile beer-wise in Santa Barbara? Gonna be there for two days for Phish. Yes, I could ask this in October...I'm aware

Barrelworks is open 12-7 on Sat and Sun and 2-7 on Monday. Closed the rest of the week. In the same building is Firestone Buelton Tap Room is open from 11-9 seven days a week. This is about 40 minutes north of Santa Barbara. It's also where Sideways was filmed if you're into wine.

Telegraph Brewing Company is in Santa Barbara and is absolutely worth a visit.

Hollister Brewing is also worth checking out in the area. It's about 10 minutes north of Santa Barbara in Goleta

Institution Ale in Camarillo is pretty good as you're heading to LA.

Ladyface is also right off the 101 on your way to LA and is a great place for food and beer.

New batch of tongue tickles is delicious. I hated the first batch but this one is great

Noble's releasing a 375ml bottle of that fig beer - Fig Poppa today. $20

Very steep price, even if it's just a 200 bottle count on it. No thanks.

Uh, can somebody from OC explain this? Because if this is a recent thing, ISO.

I found it posted in a random beer group on Facebook this morning. Asked about release/distro details, and got silence in return.

I could be wrong, but that looks like Mr. K's. I seem to remember Mike posting something about Hoparazzi a while ago but not really in a "these bottles are for sale" kind of way.

Yup, this was Mr. K's from last year.

"New brewery is in town soon. Here is a glipse whats about to come. This bottle is not for sale. Just a teaser #hoparazzi Mission Impechable #sour #beer #microbrew #craftbeer #craftbeerporn #craftbeergeek #beeergeek #instabeer #beerpulse #mrksliquor #placentia"

Beer release news out of El Segundo Brewing Co.:

Melon Collie, this Friday, 9/12
There is a LOT Coming up this month, as the new tanks have afforded us space to play!

Melon Collie is a version of White Dog IPA fermented with green flesh heirloom melons of the Galia type, called Carava and Ogen. These highly aromatic fruits lend an interesting note and texture to our White Dog, and we hope you will join us at the release.

You may remember we made about 30 gallons of this beer last year, which evaporated in just a few hours.. but this year we made 300! Our new 15bbl tanks will be used to make such specialties that will still be almost exclusive to the taproom.. but will also make them available in GROWLERS!

Starting Friday evening.. come on down for a taste of Melon Collie, grab a pint, or take some home.
New Beers and Release Dates:

Two 5 Left - not new, but coming back next Tuesday 9/16!

Wallet Dropper DIPA - Sunday 9/21
(draft and growler only)

Power Plant - Saturday 9/27
(draft, bottles, and 32oz growler only)
** will also feature the release of our Simcoe Wet Hop IPA **

Excited to see Power Plant coming back and in bottles this time!

At first glance, nothing terribly exciting. Lots of stuff I haven't tried yet, but nothing I want to stand in line for more than 30 seconds.

At first glance, nothing terribly exciting. Lots of stuff I haven't tried yet, but nothing I want to stand in line for more than 30 seconds.

Lots of double & triple IPAs on that list. I'll be cool waiting a full minute or two on a line to try some new things while I attempt to stay relatively sober during a 7hr festival!

Quick question - Is there a preferred Beachwood BBQ location? A few friends and I will be out there in November for The Festival, and we are curious if one is better than the other (Seal vs Long Beach)?
