Sun-Soaked on draft (keg-conditioned) is one of the very best beers they have ever made at Highland Park Brewery, imo.

At 3.2% ABV, its combination of complexity, drinkability and depth puts so many other sour and funky beers and brewers to shame.

My friend last night said the Sun Soaked is drinking really nice right now.

Totally agree with this, but I will say that this recent batch seemed to be a lot better than the one I tried a few weeks ago.

As far as I know Sun Soaked was only brewed once so far. Maybe its just variability in the keg-conditioning? Reminds me that I have a bottle of it sitting somewhere in the back of my cellar. Might have to open it soon with the good words being said about the keg version.

Let's go back to HPB for Woodshop 2015!

Has Boos hit LA/OC?

I think i saw Mr. K's had it and Craft Beer Kings had it. who knows if Moe's came from straight disto though. Otherwise I haven't seen it and my buddy who owns a shop in the valley said it hasn't been offered it yet or had it delivered yet from distro(his store would be one to get it).

Haha are you referring to Peter? Lets hope it lands while I'm in town during the next week.

Finally got to try HPB Lazy Susan last night (thanks to swivelhips for the bottle). I have to say it was quite nice. At 4.6% it was very refreshing with a slight tartness and light fruit acidity. I thought it was similar to Cherry Spazz in that it wasn't overly fruity or acidic or tart. I'm getting the impression that this is HPB's style and I'm a fan. Cheers!

Lazy Susan had a lot of bottle variation. I had some that were quite sour.

Yeah, it ranged greatly but never has let me down. If you see their "Shake up" on the tap list, get that **** and drink it up. So damn delicious.

The one I got was completely flat. Even still it was tasty. Ridiculous that more breweries around here haven't capitalized on the phenomenal nectarines we get.
You know people? I know people. Let's make that **** happen.

I supplied the nectarines for Lazy Susan. There's more where that came from. The time is now.

(Through July. But really... now.)

Bob should go the Westly route and make a Lazier Susan.

On a different note, I'm glad the LA/OC thread is getting a bit more love. I know it will never be the SD thread but it felt pretty quite in here a few months ago and it seems like things have perked up.

I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that there is just so much better beer in the area now. Not that long ago it was just Eagle Rock and Craftsman.

We need to get some more OC folks contributing too. Want to hear some thoughts about the new Good Beer Company bottles...

Damn that beachwood event sounds perfect. But I am seeing Tangerine that night. Maybe they will start the event midday...

Back when I first got into craft beer I was dating a girl who was going to UCLA, so I’d make the trek up to LA every couple of weeks – finding good beer was like trying to find a gap in traffic during rush hour. At least Torrance and other nearby cities have started to build up their breweries.
