Kreezer Collers

I'm in the process of building out a 6 tap Kreezer. Is it better to mount the collar to the lid of the chest freezer... or to the chest itself? Comments regarding the pros and cons of either attachment method?

This might be better in the DIY area rather than here.

There are pros and cons to each approach and hundreds of messages strongly arguing the merits of each.

To toss in another option - why do a collar at all? Coffin towers are just as easy to do.
