Hi - I just started making Komucha and bottled my first batch last week. How much does everyone drink per day? I've been drinking one bottle (16 oz) per day. Can you drink too much?

I noticed while I was drinking it, there were baby scobys in the bottles. Is that normal? It kind of grossed me out and didn't want to drink/swallow it. Should I put it through a strainer before bottling? What do you all do?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There are discussions elsewhere on the amount of Kombucha one can safely drink but there does not seem to be any actual research on the subject. I drink about 1 liter a day and I'm still functioning well.

As for the left-over material in your bottles, it is safe to drink. Some people eat the scobys too. If you want to clean up your booch just bottle it through a fine screen strainer (I do). I tried filtering it (with my pressure wine filtering system) but I didn't like the results. I like the raw Kombucha (unfiltered) best.

Have you tried flavoring it yet? That really makes it pop!

Paul
