A few weeks ago I plated out some home maide keifer on highly hopped PDA media, and ended up picking 4 colonies.
Each of the 4 colonies were grown up in 100 ml of hopped wort, then cold crashed.
This weekend I did a taste test...the culture from colony #3 was the winner.
The colony #3 culture was pitched into 1 gal of IPA wort on saturday...48 hours later I have a bueatifull pellicle.

It looks like I wrangled some sort of wild yeast...we will see if anything tasty comes of it.

Has anyone here used cultures from kefier in brewing?

If it is Lacto it is a highly hop tolerant strain....we will see what happens
The PDA media on the plate, the starter wort used to step it up, and this beer are all highly hopped.

You cannot identify an infection by the pellicle. It is cool that you have caught something, but we cannot idenitify it. A few amatuer micro biologists here will try to tell you it is a XXXX infection. But it is not possible to identify. Let it ferment out and taste it. Report back.

I captured a wild yeast a couple of years ago and I am still using it. It is cool having you own personal yeast.,
