Kegging without refrigeration

I'm tired of bottling. It was very satisfying early on, but now it is a joy-kill. The problem I have with kegging is that I am strapped for floor space in this scaled-down retirement pad. Until I can shuffle things around to make refrigeration work, can I just dispense into growlers and refrigerate those? I've been pretty happy with the shelf-life of growlers purchased at local brew houses, but those hit the growler cold. Is it ok to store kegs at room temp and pour then chill?

They do make something like a plate chiller where keg lines go into an ice box, jockey box I believe is what they are called.
