I got a old used superior kegerator and i have it plugged in in the garage. The temp wont go below 42. I did notice that when the compressor comes on it only runs for about a minute or 2. Im not sure if i want to put a quarter keg in there yet. Any thoughts.

Sometimes that is caused by dust and lint collecting in the coils. Open up the back and vacuum it out. If you have an air compressor you can blow the junk out that way too. It won’t cost anything to try.

42 may actually be the coldest it will get without intervention, but it's possible the reason the compressor stops after a couple of minutes may be because the fridge is empty.

btw, if you can find the thermostat, and it's a mechanical "bulb and capillary" style device, you may be able to adjust a "coarse setting" control that's likely hiding under a foil sticker, and drop the temperature range by a handful of degrees...

Cheers!
