Kegerator compatible mini fridge?

Found this GE model on Craigslist for $70.

Wondering if the top portion is a freezer compartment can I still convert this unit to a kegerator or does it need to be strictly a refrigerator? I do not want to hook up a temperature controller.

I just asked the seller for the model number. Has anyone else on here converted a mini fridge (with a freezer included) into a kegerator without having to use a temperature controller?

I know this is not an answer to your question, but when I was researching mini-fridges to buy to make my kegerator, pretty much everything I saw indicated to try to get one without a freezer (which I did, a Danby). On top of that, I would say trying to build any kind of kegerator without a digital temp controller is probably a quixotic effort. The temp swings are too wide with a standard fridge. I added a Johnson to mine after a couple of kegs because I just couldn't keep it right. Now, it's golden.

I was looking into the Danby also. But after researching this weekend, it seems after all the parts I need to buy in order to build one myself it would be worth it to just purchase one already put together. I've been looking at the Beverage Factory because it seems like they have a lot of available options for different parts/taps/etc....however, I don't like the additional $100 for shipping.

Alot of people were able to bend the freezer portion down towards the back of the unit to make a kegerator. Best bet is to plug the model number into the search in the diy forum. Im sure whatever model it someone has done it or tried.

It looks the same model that I have and converted to a kegerator very easily, I haven't used it yet because my beer isn't ready to keg yet but I did bend the freezer tray down very carefully and cut out the door shelving. So it can be done but how good it works at keeping everything cold i can't speak for. At least not for another 2 weeks or so.
