So I just put together my keezer (I hate the word, but it adequately describes my situation) with a 10" collar using 1 2"x10" board. My kegs and hardware showed up today. I thought this would give me plenty of room for my keg on the compressor hump. Well it gave me plenty of room for my keg on the compressor hump but it unfortunately did not give me me plenty of room with the ball lock disconnect. I didn't realize the disconnect protruded above the top of the keg. The collar has been cut and attached so I do not want to have to switch to a 2" x 12".

Any ideas here?

I feel kind of dumb now :(

EDIT: I have ball lock kegs and not pin lock kegs. Are there any low profile disconnects for ball lock?

I've never used pin locks, but I know my ball locks don't go higher than the rubber on the top of a keg. Maybe someone who's figured a problem like this out before can help you, but my advice would be to get one ball lock keg to fit on top of the compressor hump and keep the rest of your kegs pin lock.

Hope this helps.

You could add a 1x2 or 2x2 collar on top of the 2x10 collar easily enough. Not ideal aesthetically, but it would work.

I'm pretty sure ball lock kegs are 2-3" taller than pin locks, so I don't think that will work. I'm actually looking for some pin lock kegs for a friend who has a mini-fridge kegerator because the ball locks are just a little too tall.

I've never seen a low profile QD for pinlock or for ball lock...

But, Pin lock kegs are shorter (And wider!)
You may have clearance for pin locks vertically, but it'll change the footprint horizontally.

Having never used them I'm not sure how tall they are but one of the 90degree quick connects might give you the clearance you need. A little pricey around $20 a piece though.

Maybe you could flip the lid liner. Not sure about your chesty, but all the ones I've seen, the plastic liner protrudes down into the the freezer space 1-2". If you could invert it, that would buy you roughly twice that distance.

hansen makes stainless ball-lock disconnects that have a slightly lower profile than the plastic ones, but they're pretty spendy...

And from Northern Brewer:
Ball Lock Kegs:
25" High x 8 1/2" Diameter << I think 25" high is with the QD's attached...

Pin Lock Kegs:
I have two different size kegs.
22-23" High x 9" Diameter
