As my circle of friends learn of my brewing escapades
some freebies have come my way. One friend dropped off a 15.5g keg recently. And last night another buddy gave me a really nice whirlpool chest freezer. Hey great! Except this is a 21.7cu' freezer. Hmmm. Seems a bit overkill.
Right now I've got two corny kegs with dual regulators. I plan to add a couple more in the upcoming months.
Imperial Pale Ale and a Nut brown.
The fridge the kegs are in now is fine. But I did loose my second fridge or "garage" fridge. We have an upright deep freezer so I don't need the additional freezer space BUT the additional fridge space is nice. Plus this is an Energy Star deal whereas the ole` garage fridge is an energy hog.
I ordered an analog temp controller this morning so I can get my kegs with party taps in there and shut down the older fridge.
I'm toying with the idea of leaving the chest freezer in it's OEM configuration, "splitting" the interior space foam board. One side housing the kegs, tank, etc and coming through the top with a multi tap tower, and using the other side as a regular fridge.
This freezer is way to big - I'll never have enough home brew at one time to require this much space. I'm digging the idea of building a keezer - and getting the chest freezer for free was just too good to pass up.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
