Hi first thread on this forum. A little background I started breing in Chico Ca. home of Sierria Nevada back in '91 went to my lhbs to get a kit and the owner told me to start with AG so I did and have done since. Early on I had rudimentry system but started keging eary. Over the years brewing has been on and off but i've upgraded my equiptment(home built) and have been trying more and more styles. About 7 years ago I moved to BC Canada and brewing besides at my buddies house seaced ;( About 2 years ago I bought a TH with a lot a room but not enough to brew in according to SWMBO fortunatluily I have a big bach deck and have been thinking of brewing again however although Vancouver is some what moderate temps I cant have a fermenter outside, Then I started thinking of a fermenterchamber/ keezer. Well last week I pulled the triger at a Garage sale $40 for a 3 year old 14 cf freezer ;) Soory I'm long winded but I want to ferment and serve ive been looking at johnson and ramce controllers even the stc1000 Im going to ferment 3 ales(10 gal each) then a pils(never been able to do before) Should then be ale to ferment and serve. Question is It gets a bit cold durning winter at night since my keezer is outside should i have a dual controler or just swithch in the winter to a heating pad? Also does the stc1000 alow u to install 2 senser probes. I'd like to seperate ate freezer into frementer and keezer. Thanks any help:rockin::rockin:

If you look at the threads on the "eBay Aquarium controller" you can end up with a dual stage controller for modest cost. You may find the added capability worth the effort.

I'd like to seperate ate freezer into frementer and keezer.

That might prove to be the biggest challenge of all...

Cheers!

sf-giant1. I too had the same issue. Im about an hour from you just across the border in Wa. I built the aquarium temp controller thats on the forum here. I have a 8 cuft chest freezer plugged into it on the cool side and a regular heating pad that you would use on your back plugged into the hot side. Works great, but I do not serve from it I have another 15cuft freezer that I use for that. Problem with trying to serve from your feremntor is the ambient temp in the freezer. If you set the controller to 64 degrees your beer will stay 64 but the freezer itself will never get down to 40. Even with a lager. Im feremnting at 50 right now and the ambient in the freezer is at around 50. Too warm to serve. Id reccomend another freezer
