Brewing theKama Citra from northern brewers. Recipe sheet calls for 0.5 ounce centennial hops. Centennial hops package says 1 oz do I add only half,or add the whole package? Sure it's a dumb question but why send me 1 oz when I only need 0.5? And if I'm only supposed to add 0.5 how precise do I need to be?

If the addition is early in the boil (e.g., 60 minutes from the end), you should be exact. If it's in the last 20 minutes of the boil, throw all the hops you can in that sucker. For sure, if you have any hops left at the end of the boil, get them in there. It'll add to aroma and flavor.

0.5 goes in at 60. So i should add the other. 0.5 towards the end of the boil?

Yessir. With any recipe I'm given (food/beer), I try hard to stick with the recipe as written the first time. However, definately throw the other half ounce in at the very end. Or drop in fermentor near the end of fermentation for dryhop aroma.

If you want to stick to the recipe you now have an extra .5oz of hops for another brew day. Vacuum seal it if you can and then put it in the freezer! The hop bill is already pretty good so I would stick to recipe

BOIL ADDITIONS & TIMES
-- 0.5 oz Centennial (60 min)
-- 1 oz Cascade (20 min)
-- 1 oz Cascade (10 min)
-- 2 oz Citra (Flame out –10
minute hop stand)
-- DRY HOPS — Add to secondary
fermenter one to two weeks
before bottling day
-- 1 oz Citra
-- 1 oz Cascade

When I made it I threw it in with the Citra. Really good beer by the way. Actually doing 10g of it on Tuesday.

Throw them in toward the end, or the dry hop. Their hops are in 1 oz packs. This kit only uses .5 oz, they just grab an ounce pack and throw it in the kit. Many suppliers do this with their kits.
