Hey Guys,

The other day I bottled a partial-mash IPA and forgot to boil the priming sugar before adding it to the bottling bucket. I just dumped it in and added the brew. How much wil this kill the beer when its ready to be had?

I fugure best case scenario is each bottle will be carbonated at different levels, from none to loaded, and the worst case is none are carbonated. What will happen?

Well, I'm sure boiling the priming sugar is also part of its sterilization process, but if it was meant to break the sugar down into something more manageable, then you may have little to no carbonation. Hopefully, someone with a little more experience with this kind of situation can you give a more definite answer.

Good luck, and...

If you stirred the ale before bottling, you should be fine. If you didn't, some bottles will be over carbonated, some under. With an IPA, infections are unlikely.
