Just bottled my first batch, a porter. Starting gravity of 1.044 final of 1.019. Around 4% abv as near as I can figure in my head. I primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar and I am hoping beyond all hope that it will be carbonated in a little under two weeks for the Super Bowl. I've even made a special green and yellow "Packer's Porter" label for it!

Ha ha, that is awesome! Most of my friends are Bears fans but I have one who roots for the Packers. I think he'd go crazy for a Packer's Porter! I haven't bottled before but from what I've read, they usually fully saturate somewhere after two weeks so I think your porter should be very drinkable.

Not to burst your bubble or anything but I think it's more of a 3.4% ABV beer. Here's the math with your gravities; the 7.36 is a constant divisor good for all ABV estimations.

(44 - 19) / 7.36 = 25 / 7.36 = 3.397, roughly.

I think you should try a bottle of that porter a couple days before the superbowl to find out how it tastes. I know that my porter was drinkable in a week but it wasn't good tasting for more than a month. If yours doesn't taste like you want, you would still have time to pick up a case of Bud Lite for the superbowl.
