My neighbor 2 doors down has been home brewing for 17 years and he tells me he bottles beer in twist-off bottles. Says he twists off the caps and saves them. Doesn't use bottle opener....he actually twists them off. Then he bottles his home brew in these twist off bottles and RE-USES the twist off caps. He says he simply twists the caps back on the twist off bottles and his brew carbonates perfectly.

Anybody here ever try this? Btw, Happy New Year to all :mug:

I've bottled in twist offs before. They can be a pain to remove from the bell but they carbonate fine. I never tried to reuse the caps. Also I'm in Canada were we reuse our twist offs so they're a little heavier.

I imagine it works but why risk it. Also is seems like a great PITA to me. Twisting on all those caps and possibly not getting a good seal??? Makes my hand hurt just thinking about it.

Capping a crimp on cap is so easy.
