HEY GUYS!

Heading down to Austin soon, and was hoping for some food and entertainment recs. Please help. BBQ a must, need some stuff other than getting stupid on food and bevy's though.

Thanks?
Stay at my house?
I have a guest bedroom/beer cellar.
Walking distance to Pinthouse Pizza (award winning brewpub and great pizza) and Draught House (award winning pub).

That's awesome - when are you coming? Here's some recommendations to start:

Breakfast: Tacodeli (IMO) has the best fancy breakfast tacos. Counter Cafe's blueberry pancakes are amazing.
BBQ: Franklin BBQ is the most famous but will have a 3 hour line. La BBQ (nearby) is almost as good. If you're near Lockhart (30 min south of the airport) then I like Smitty's for both the food and atmosphere. If near Taylor, then Louie Mueller BBQ is super legit. Finally, Rudy's BBQ is available for lunch and dinner and has several locations...it is a chain but is consistently really good.
Beer: a given, but the best breweries to visit are Jester King, Hops & Grain, and Austin Beerworks. Best Bars are the Draught House, Craft Pride, Easy Tiger, Wright Bros Brew & Brew, Gingerman, among others.
Does Tacodeli have a chorizo taco? It's not a true breakfast taco/burrito without chorizo.
Totally agree about Rudy's and will throw out Kerlin bbq on E 1st I think.
Here's a pic from my visit there, it was friday at lunch I believe:

I don't believe Tacodeli has a chorizo taco, but they do have the best taco in Austin. The Deli Belly is:

Pork belly, avocado, tomatillo salsa, honey, cilantro, and onions. The only downside: it is only available Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Kerlin's brisket is just as good as Franklin and a better overall experience considering I've never had to wait in line. There's so many better ways to spend 4+ hours.

You're right. Hanging out with friends, eating breakfast tacos, drinking beer and playing some cards is a terrible way to spend 4+ hours.

Haha, I've never seen someone defend waiting in line.
4 hours is about how long it takes me to reach the front doors from the parking lot

Ugh. No new beers released this weekend.... I'll still stop by to grab a gotslandricka and hopefully meet up with someone for a beer... Remember 6:45/7PM on saturday. I'll probably make another trip down for MVB though so i'll catch some of yall. Hopefully kmello69 especially. It's been at least a year+ :(

For reals. I will definitely NOT be there on Saturday, unless I'm looking to get a divorce, but hopefully we can touch tips soon!

No. It might be good, but its not AS good. Big difference.

The thing most people don't realize is that Franklin has increased his pits recently, so his food lasts a lot longer. Here is a pic of the line at 1:xx today

Whats this "line" you speak of? You just need to know when to go.

Ah ****. There's still que after the initial rush now?

I volunteer a good amount and gave up my Fridays for March and April....I was selective and am betting on no MVB or Atrial....3/13,20,27 and 4/3....****. Good thing I put a caveat that my Fridays sometimes get booked the week of in my email to fellow volunteers ;)

If waiting in a line is justification for food tasting better, then sure I can see that.

Either way, how do you know they aren't sold out? What was actually available that time of day?

hell i dont wait more than 20 mins at ****** BBq......ah **** i lied. Ive waited longer than an hour at a chain steak place that cuts their own meat, you can choose your cut and have awesome rolls and ok beer while you wait.

Say all you want, but Texas Roadhouse meat is far superior to most when you can pick your own cut and they cut from the cow.

anyone saying different is a homer or a liar.

Lone Star, IIRC.

John Mueller does it to... be sure to clank cans with him.
Typically Lone Star, but they have had Adelberts there a few times that I have been there. Plus its BYOB all the time, so great for a midday, meat filled Bottle share. Just the way we like em

I'm not sure people really appreciated what you did there, so I wanted to make sure to bring it back again. ;)

P.S. - you lost me at Adelberts, but BYOB? Why don't we do every share there?!?
