2014 Central Waters BBBW and now 2015 MOAS. On barley.
Somehow they just keep improving it, plus they made Ryeway so good that it might even be better than SJ.![]()

4 years old. I imagine this is what Abacus/Sucaba would be like if it was aged in red wine barrels
Any good? Traded for two bottles when it was released and opened one. Thought it was very blah - just pretty neutral, a little nutty. Still have the other somewhere.
I drank one fresh and thought it tasted like nothing (similar to my sucaba/abacus experiences)
Tonight, this was quite wine forward and easy drinking but still thin and “simple” by barleywine standards
Thomas Hardy 2017

Im a straight up moron for even getting excited about finding this on the shelf recently. Nothing is ever gonna be Eldridge Pope era TH again so why even get my hopes up like this? I thought I recalled that these last couple of newest releases were barrel aged which is kinda exciting... except once you crack into this you realize if they did so, it wasnt done for this bottle cuz all thats evident is slightly solvent alcohol and a hint of orange zest. This has no aging potential, its so linear and boring there is nothing to look forward to developing in the bottle which makes this next statement even more ironic - the best by date is 10 years out. The real thomas hardy ale told you not to even think about drinking it until it was 8 years old. What a shame.
The website thomashardysale reads like an adventure in which they try and recreate the OG to the finest detail. But that hasnt been updated since 2016... so maybe 2017 was the year they gave the **** up when people tore off their shroud and discovered it was all ********? Or maybe its another brewery already? I dont care enough to find out at this point.
