So I'm right in the middle of a brew day and realized I can't find my hop bags. And I'm making an imperial IPA. I'm using my new blichmann pot with a ss sponge on the dip tube as a filter and since I'm also using my plate chiller for the first time I was going to whirlpool at flameout.

Would that be enough to clear out hop matter and keep my plate chiller from gunking up?

That SS scrubby will load up very quickly. You might survive the experience if you're using whole cones and a light schedule, but I think you're in for a nightmare with pellets regardless...

Cheers!

Thanks. I'm just gonna use my old immersion chiller and let whatever hop gunk get through settle out in the fermentor.

Sigh, I need a hop back
