It's a 40 a good score?

I entered my first homebrew competition yesterday and scored 40 with some really positive comments. Is that a solid score? I really didn't know what to expect.

Congrats. 40 is an excellent score. Don't expect to get those every time you enter a contest.

Brew on :mug:

I got best in show at a county fair in the California Bay Area with a score around 42ish. Way to go!

Very solid score. I'm a BJCP judge, and the number of 40+ scores given is slim - I could probably count on my hands the number I've given (and I tend to be a fairly generous judge). Be proud of that 40, nice job!

Good job....did you win any ribbons?

I entered 2 bottles in two contest on two Hawaiian islands and took first place in each w/the same American Imperial Stout. One place gave me a 39 the other a 40. I'm supper happy and so should you. :ban: :tank:

forty you should be proud of your achievement :)..anyways what was the beer

It was a NEIPA with columbus and citra hops. It's actually my least favorite NEIPA to date by a long shot. I tried a different malt bill and different yeast. I'm going back to my usual grist and 1318.

We did kill that keg yesterday, but I'm not going to be able to brew for a couple weeks due to work and obligations. I might have to actually buy beer.
