Where is the beekeeping forum?

With all the mead makers and the rise of urban bee keeping you would think we'd get that one too.

If you've got chickens or are thinking about getting into raising chickens its a good forum. Urban and suburban chicken raising as a cottage industry has been increasing at an incredible rate over the last 4 years. Its now a social trend to have chickens in your backyard. I know because the wife and kids got sucked into buying chickens last spring. We got our week old chicks from the NJchickenman out in Jackson, NJ. He told us that 4 years ago he moved only about 20k birds a year mostly to specialty farmers and organic farms that were sprouting up. This year he will move 75k birds and is at capacity for what his system can handle. He said the number of families who want to raise pet chickens for their eggs seems to be endless.

I also think that people also want to hedge their bets against the looming economic meltdown/race wars/zombiepocalypse by having food running around their own yards.

Cool I'll check him out. I was looking for a local place that sells chickens. We ahve been getting them at the local hardware store and are limited to what and when they buy. Does he sell right from the farm? I found a place in PA but will only do mail order due to some PA regulations regarding transfering disease from farm to farm.

A search on "NJchickenman" came up empty...just a kids book that is all. Do you have more information? An address? Thanks

Click the enter button to get to more interesting things. He is out on 571 a few miles east of the Jackson Outlets/Great Adventure. Its an easy drive from 195, but time it to avoid the shore traffic. Don't know about shipping. We called first and asked some basic questions then just went there. He spent 2 hours with us discussing what to do and what not to do. He's a good guy and you can tour his house/farm. His breeding/laying facilities are located elsewhere but he has birds on hand to show/sell.
