It looks gross, dusty, dry, and powdery and like something I would not want in my mouth...

...which is perfect ;)
 
Just first Flanders red and was hoping all was well. Glad to here it seems alright. Smelled like a good sour so I figured it is probably alright.
 
The only word of caution would be to minimize oxygen contact as much as possible to avoid excessive acetic acid production by brett (i.e. few samples, airlocked/bunged as much as possible), granted some small amount is considered acceptable (I prefer a subtle amount but don't want anything near vinegar).
 
I have probably only opened it a couple of time to take a a look and sniff. No sample as of yet.

That is a couple of times more than I have opened my 2 year old sour that I am getting ready to bottle. Just leave it alone.
