I'm unsure how fine the milling should be. This is premilled from the supplier. Should I get it finer?

Yeah that needs a better crush. I would suggest investing in your own mill. Will help with dialing your efficiency and also will save you a lot of money overtime by being able to buy sacks of basemalt and specialty malts you use often

It looks like a lot of whole uncrushed grains to me. I'd say it should be finer. But in another thread - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/thread...w-good-is-their-milling.736267/#post-10460317 - others seemed to have different opinions of optimum grain crush. Maybe I'm too fussy about the crush?
Kernels that look uncrushed may actually be cracked, which is all that is really needed if you mash long enough. If you can find kernels that appear to be uncrushed, squeeze them to see if they fall into two or more pieces. If you find a significant number of kernels that do not fall apart, then the crush sucks, and should be finer.

Brew on :mug:

Update: I took my grain to a local milling company, maltwerks, and they improved it significantly. Picture below. I did say around .28" fineness and this is what I got

well...it's hard to really tell if it's still in the bag.

But pre-crushed grain is usually a bit coarse for BIAB.

But extending the mash time might make that irrelevant?
