I wouldn't call that a GREAT deal.

To put one together from scratch, you need:

Freezer (assume new): $200
Dual tower: $150, new, at NB
Faucets (two): if they're basic, $40; Perlicks, $80
Co2 tank (assume 5lb): $60
Regulator (dual gauge): $60

So, that's like $500. You'll want new beer lines anyway. Other small stuff might add up to another $50 or so. So, it seems like an acceptable deal but not an exceptional one. The prices I'm assuming aren't hard to find; you can find (or make, a la BierMuncher) a tower for less than $150, and freezers can be found on Craigslist for $100.

Bird,
Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of offering $400.00 for it, since he has had it listed for awhile, maybe then?
Plus I wouldnt have to do the work, just get straight to chillin..LOL

Of course, all that would have to happen AFTER, I get back home from the big sandbox.

$400's would be a pretty fair price. I'd want to confirm if the faucets were forward-sealing, maybe how big the CO2 tank is. Wonder if he's got some cornie kegs to throw in, as well.

Take care of yourself in the sandbox, BTW.

It just depends what you're looking for. If you want something you can use immediately then that's not a bad price for convenience. Like bird said, you can probably DIY one and save a good $100 or so.

Good points, I did not think of that, I will definately ask.

20 days left and counting, should be home in time for Christmas. Then I can starte getting all my gear and start brewing again.

Looks like its set up for commercial kegs with Sanke fittings. So you'll need to replace them and all the beer line with ball/pin locks for homebrew. That'll run you like $30-40

Another thing to think about:

It was made for 2 sankes, once you put two cornys in you will have a lot of room left over. That means that you will want to put 3 more cornys in and then you have to buy an expensive 5 tap T-tower. At least that's what happened to me.

If you only plan on having 2 taps, I would suggest doing a sanyo conversion.

Also to add to birds cost calc, add $50 for a temp controller for the freezer.

$400 doesn't sound terrible IMHO. It looks like a fairly new freezer he converted. Like was mentioned, it would be something you could hit the ground running with.

Another item you would want to replace in addition to the beer lines are those faucet handles.
