I just found a 30 qt turkey fryer (pot, lid, and burner) on CL for $35. I'm definitely going to try to jump on this deal...

I've only brewed one batch and I'm already searching for cheap upgrades. I probably would have put an offer on those kegs as well lol

I would guess this person has or currently brews, that being said more than likely they have a good idea what these items are worth. I would give them the $50. The way I look at it, you would have two "unbreakable" fermenter @ $25 each (cheaper than a 6-7 gallon carboy or better bottle) and the Co2 tank is a freebee. Winning!!

Either way im trying to get them. Now im looking for a cheap fridge for them. Lol

While I understand and respect your position. I put food on the table by selling. I think I know a good deal when I see it, especially brewing equipment. The scrap price for the two kegs as of last month was around $35-$40.

After rereading the add the seller did show weakness with their "make offer" statement, I guessing the SWMBO is on his ars.

All I'm saying is if I had the $50 in my pocket and in the market for that type of hardware I would be the guy with two new fermenter/brew pots and a Co2 cylinder and the OP would be the guy with an offer and $35 to spend elsewhere.

If you make your living by selling...You should realize that if the guy wanted $50, he should have asked for $60. He isn't a retail outlet, it's Craigslist. People haggle, it's like a flea-market. I've never once bought something at a flea-market without haggling, like I said, it's part of the fun lol

Maybe i watch too much pawn stars lol. I'll pay more but the less i spend the happier the wife is. Maybe I'll have her do the deal I'd bet i would nearly get them free l. Haggiling is in her blood.

Totally agree with this

I have to agree with this. I am a believer of always trying to haggle but when something is dirt cheap just pay it and tell him you will be there in 5 minutes. Otherwise the next guy in line will. If it's that low of a price he probably (or his wife) wants it out of the house and gone.

When someone names a price and adds "or best offer," or something similar, you clearly make an offer. When you buy a car, do you pay the sticker price? Hell no.

Craigslist is like an online gypsy fair, those people love to haggle and barter and trade.

I buy and sell a lot of things on CL mostly brewing related. I like enjoy it, it gives me an opportunity to meet a lot of local brewers and network, and I don't work retail sales (and I have nothing against retail my parents have 65 years combined in it) I manage a 6 state multimillion dollar sales/distribution territory.

All I was attempting to say is if OP has the $50, wants it or feels it would help him improve his process, buy it don't attempt to barter. The OP asked " is this a good buy" and pasted the link. And I answered gave my answer " I would give them $50".

I have missed a number of things on CL because of timing never price as long as it was fair. In 20 hrs over this last weekend I sold 5 of the 8 pin-lock kegs @ $40 each, a keggel for $60, a $70 immersion chiller and a $30 out of test 5lb. C02 tank all at there listed prices.

It may be a regional thing, but I have never had a person buying brewing equipment try to barter with me, I also have never used the word "firm" or "obo" in any of my listing. My wife on the other hand has potential buyers agree on a price, show up and try to renegotiate.
