I have a compression fitting, need a barb to attach tubing. Is there an easy way to do it? Is there such a thing as a barb fitting with a straight "stem"?

This maybe?

you want to go from compression to barb? Easy to do with two steps. Get a compression to NPT, and then NPT to barb. Any hardware store will have them in brass. Mcmaster has them in stainless. This is how I adapt my immersion chiller from copper tubing to vinyl tubing.

If it's 1/2inch copper pipe to silicon hose, just push the hose straight on to the pipe and save yourself money.
