I ordered Wyeast 1010 smack pack from Northern Brewer right in the middle of the heat wave a week or two ago. When package arrived, the ice pack was melted and the yeast pack was hot. I put it in the fridge for a day or so and then smacked it, but nothing happened for several days. I assumed they yeast were dead and I'd have to get another pack. Last night, (6 days after smacking the pack) I come home and find the pack swollen. Do you think it's ok to use the yeast? I thought about making a 1 L yeast starter to give it a boost. Or should I just scrap it and buy more yeast from LHBS?

Thanks for the assistance everyone. Starter took right off and everything looks to be going fine with the fermentation of the batch.
