Doing my first eBIAB today and I'm planning a large hopstand/whirlpool at 140F. After I chill down to my hopstand temp, is it OK to use the element to maintain that temp? Will the element scorch the hops?

I was planning to turn off the pump when I add the hops, stir them around a bit to break them up, then begin recirculating again. Last time I dumped 8oz of hops into the kettle with the pump on, I had a clog that was a major PITA to clear out.
