Anyone ever made an Irish Whiskey barrel porter or stout?
I'm a huge lover of irish whiskey. I recently tried the Jameson Caskmates (which is aged in stout seasoned casks) and loved it...it got me thinking...I have Northern Brewer's Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter kit coming...why not age that beer with a good Irish Whiskey instead of bourbon? Anyone tried it?
I've not done a barrel aged beer yet, so I'll likely just stick with the bourbon this go round, but I definitely have the Irish version on my mind. Maybe if I had time to get it done before St Patt's I'd go with it, but I'm thinking this is a beer I'll want to age for a few months.
