Just got an early Xmas present from my wife.....10 Gal All Grain Brewing Equipment! Looking for a good recipe to try for our first All Grain Brew. Want to keep it simple and like the IPAs and Pales. Something using Simcoe, Citra, or Amarillo maybe? Not sure how much grains/hops to start with for this volume size. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Congrats! These are 10 gal coolers then, so 5 gallon batches (5.5 going into fermenter)?

If so, how about something like:

11 lbs Vienna or Maris Otter
1 oz Amarillo or Centennial @60
1 oz Amarillo or Centennial @10 or @15
1 oz Amarillo or Centennial @0
Your favorite yeast (Wyeast 1450 or 1968 are personal favorites)

What would be the Mash temp/time?

Anything that you could say this recipe might taste like?

Well, I guess I would recommend you play around with some brewing software, like BrewToad or Brewer's Friend to really fine tune the recipe you want.

But, you should be good with ~4 gals of 165F strike water, hold at 152-154 for 60 minutes, sparge with 165-170F water (batch or continuous) until you hit about 7 gals in the kettle.

I imagine it will taste like a hoppy American pale ale, around 40-50 ibu's. Probably with some biscuity or bready notes, in various amounts depending on base malt and yeast selected.

I use Munich Palt and any mix of German hops w/K-97 German Ale yeast from Austin Home Brew. Great flavors in my 2 gallon batches.

Any updates on how this turned out? I am looking at doing a SMASH this week.
