Nice job on the install. It's nice to see folks that follow my instructions perfectly and end up with quality piece. Since you put it pretty close to the ball valve, it will provide a limited bit of protection while cleaning. You're right though, you don't want to smash it even though the tubing can take few nicks and bangs.

Thanks Bobby.. your instructions made it a breeze! Yeah I almost went to the other side with it, opposite the valve..

AND, now I'm kinda wishing I had a thermometer installed! haha

Bobby I think its time I make a sight glass for my keggle not knowing how much wort I had kinda sucked and even though I think I was pretty close to 5 gallons I want to know exactly how much I have.

so here's my questions. I have a keggle and built the keg tool for the 1/2" couplings I have a couple couplings left and I can cut one in half so it doesn't stick out from the keggle quite as far.

should I go with your 1/4" half coupling, but I've no tool to dimple my hole. or just go with a 1/2" half coupling and your bushing?

another though had crossed my mind was getting a 1/4" SS lock nut and soldering it flush to the outside of the keggle.

your thoughts please

thanks,

-=Jason=-

I have dimpled and soldered 1/2" half couplers with a street elbow and a Bobby M sight glass on all 3 of my vessels. I need to get pics up soon.

Flomaster,

I had this same problem. I went with 1/4 half couplers. I pmed nostalgia, who posted the dimpling tool in the soldering thread and he told me to get a 1/2 inch brass nipple and grind it into a dimpling coupling. I did this and used the same bolt and dimpled the hole. Then I bought a 3/8 grade 5 bolt and pulled the 1/4 coupling through. Worked well. I'll try to post picture tonight when I get home from work.

I am also very pleased with his product. Here is a picture of mine:

If you can get 1/4" couplings installed, it's cleaner than using the 1/2" to 1/4" adapter. Frankly, this weldless design is so good that I'd use it on my own kettles before soldering or welding anything in.

Very pleased with how mine turned out. Got to me sooner than I expected too!

Great video, I placed and order for 2 earlier in the week for my HLT and my boil kettle. Now that I am going to a single tier is extremely important to know how much water or wort I have. Thanks Bobby for the great product.

Chromados

I just installed mine this evening. It looks great, and it'll be nice to know (and not guess) the volume in the kettle!

I'll post pics of it in action during tomorrow's brew session.

Here it is during today's early morning brew:

My wife had an early flight, so I started brewing at Oh-dark-thirty. Got 10 gallons of Biermuncher's Nierra Sevada into the fermentors by 10:30 AM! :mug:

I'm loving the sight glass! It really takes the guesswork out of brewing.

Two thumbs up for Bobby! :mug:

Bobby is the man placed my order yesterday and already have a tracking number...

got mine and installed tonight.

once again thanks Bobby you Da Man

I mounted my eye bolt low in case I want to cut the skirt off the top to cut some weight off the keggle. I can just leave a small tab where the eye bolt is and it should look very clean.

The installs look great. What do you guys think about these chrome numbers? I don't think they are quite as easy to read as the black but maybe someone with shiny kettles would be interested for the bling factor. Thoughts?

I think black is really easy to read, i'd need to see that with some wort in there and against a shinny kettle.

and damn I need to finish polishing up my keggle.

Am I the only one who's really stoked about the gallon markers? The sight glass is good but those stickers are awesome. Gone are the days of using a sharpie!

Bobby, I like the black stickers more than the chrome. The chrome is too difficult to read, but I think white would work well.

these sight glasses are amazing. they are nearly indestructible. I have smacked one with a vice grip, hit one with a saw horse, as well as banged another keg against one.....both are still perfect with only a minor nick or two. try to have that with a truely glass sight glass.

No, you're not the only one! They are simply awesome looking and functional! My buddy's awfully jealous, so I think Bobby will have another customer soon!:ban:

I am actually getting ready to order some of these sight glasses along with some other hardware. I make signs and custom boat graphics and I can say from experience that even the best chrome vinyl is not as resilient as black. Also I think the black looks better.
