I just poured a first pint of a new batch, and the initial smell is a little bit like cheese. After the head goes down the smell goes away and the beer tastes fine. Wtf? Disclosure I completely pitched enough healthy yeast, pure oxygen etc etc...

The smell goes away literally within 30 seconds, I don't think it's an infection...co2 issue maybe?

Hmmm, hard to say. I've had a similar experience and I don't know what it was from. A friend said he got a gym sock sort of smell, which can smell cheesey, but the beer wasn't infected. Maybe it's old hops?

Never experienced this before...doubt it's the hops as this is a schwarzbier. The aroma literally goes away in seconds and the beer in fine. Going to clean all the lines and see if that solves it.

Old hops could be the culprit. It could also be isovaleric acid which smells like parmesan or bleu cheese.
