Snowing again now. And well below average every day. It was amusing to walk around my docked boat on the frozen harbor last week. But enough already.

I think I need a drink.

Agreed. I can't remember a winter where the temps here (Philly suburbs) didn't get above freezing for weeks straight... Maybe a day or two but never the majority of a month.

Of course, this time last year we were on the national news for the massive ice storm we got (and I have a whole hospital story to go along with it). so I guess I'll take the cold over the ice and snow. Thank God it's March!

I hear ya. I've spent more time farming snow and ice than brewing this year.

We've had exactly one day in the last 30 that managed to reach the historic average temperature - and that was by a whole two degrees F. Otherwise it's been cold-cold, snow every weekend and sometimes another storm in between, with no real end to it in sight.

I'm probably just getting old, but aside from school in Colorado and a few years living on the Olympic Peninsula, I've lived in New England most of my life and actually believe this has been one of the hardest winters ever.

I'm cooked.

There's two weeks on a Bahamas Out Island waiting for me in a month if I can hang in there...

DayTrippr, enjoy that time in the sun. I squeezed in a week in Fort Lauderdale. I forgot how good it feels to walk on the beach. But that vitamin d fix wore out already. I spent 10 days in Marsh Harbor Abaco a decade ago. While it was cool, (60s) it was still way warmer than home.
Next winter I'm taking the boat south. If my wife doesn't come I'll send her postcards.

Moved to MD from Tucson AZ in January - most of my life has been in AZ. Trying to remember how grumpy the AZ summers make me (grumpier every year since I took up running)...what gets me is the variation in a single week - from 40° to 15° back to 27°, etc.

Aside from the really early start to winter here (I had 4" of snow on pumpkins on our front step), its been pretty nice in Mn. Not much snow, and only a little cold in late Feb/early March. Looks to be heating up by weekend and hopefully buh-bye cold weather. Don't get me started on last year though, that was as brutal as I remember back in the early/mid 80's as a kid.

Hang in there East Coast.

As to doggy poo, our current dog is apparently too good to poop in his own yard. He likes to go while on a walk. Downside = doggy mitt on every walk. Upside = No brown rivers flowing through our yard come spring.

Ummm, Homer, this one isn't over yet. I was down on the harbor today running new dock lines because the ice pushed the hardware off of the pilings. At least it was easy to walk to all of the pilings. And we expect more snow tomorrow. Last month was the coldest ever recorded here.

Should probably plan to chip the packed snow to my grill and driveway sometime this weekend. I've not been grilling due to no gas, but my tank is filled and it's going to be grilling summery soon!

Mount Sinai Harbor. I've sailed on the South Shore too, sometimes with trailer boats, though I've kept boats in Lindenhurst and West Babylon. But they are all frozen now.

As for the frozen poop, I have a lesser problem. But I do expect to have to clear lots of thawed cat crap this spring. And even though I clear a spot for her, the little devil still craps on the walk.

Welcome to the DMV area... Wait until summer. 100 degrees with 95% humidity. You'll be missing AZ's dry heat. It's hard to run in the DMV summers as well.

Exactly. And while the summers at their worst in MD will be sticky, it won't be 90°+ for most of 4 months... I have ran out here while kid of hot and muggy - not too bad. Different for sure.

Brrr.... It's cold here today in Milton, FL. I actually had to put a long sleeve shirt on. I thought about a wind-breaker, but decided I'd just risk it outside without it.

I don't miss the winters up north. Moved south about 27 years ago and haven't looked back. Call me crazy though, I'll be retiring in about 10 years or so and will be heading about half way back. Not all of the way back... just half way.

Spent 3 months in Basrah. Normally 118 f and 50% humidity like the rest of Iraq so annoying but tolerable.for four days in August the winds came off the gulf...123 f and 85% humidity is soul-crushing. The plus part(if there is one) no alerts so we never had to endure that in full battle rattle in a bunker.

Even Dubai in summer is terrible. You walk out of the hotel and are almost instantly damp. 114f and 90% humidity means you normal body temp is below the dewpoint. You do the math.
