Hey EdWot!

Why not add a little coloring, you know, just for effect....

Maybe toss a little green food coloring in there or something.... :mug:

roflmao.

At any rate, this thread should be linked to the 'cons' of the Wiki for glass Carboys hehe. One thing in addition to dropping them, is that even bumping them when they are empty can cause micro stress cracks that later manifest themselves as split carboys. I have a glass carboy and 2 BB (one 5 and one 6). Although I have a slight aversion to plastics in general, mo is that the pros of the BB far outweigh the cons. Now if they made Carboys out of tempered glass (or something like Pyrex), I would be a bit more comfortable using them. But in general they seem to be made out of cheap cheap glass. *shrug*.

When I bought my first glass carboy, the salesman pointed out that the one I picked out had a small crack in it. I went through 10 more before I found one without a crack in it. That one I bought.
Since then I regularly inspect my glass carboys for hairline cracks, and whenever I move one, I do so in a plastic milk crate.
The one I bought came from Italy and seemed to be thicker than most I have seen.

I'm prolly a wuss. But I stopped moving my glass carboy a while back.

I now transport my cooled wort from the garage to the basement using my two 7 1/2 gallon buckets. I siphon the batch into the two buckets and carry down 2 1/2 - 3 gallons at a time.

Using the two buckets, I get great aeration pouring them back and forth until it's super-frothy.

Rack em to my carboy and then lift the carboy up onto my bench. Even that single lift gets my adreneline going.

OK, I brewed 10 gallons of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Saturday, and that was 1/2 of it. SWMOM = She who must obey me. ( Dont tell her I said that, I am talking tuff here, she wont read this) I like the milk crate idea too. I may head to the grocery store to steal theirs. And lastly, she was not pissed at all, except for the good towel I grabbed in a flash is now ruined. She actually got out the floor mate while I went to a Mason meeting, and cleaned it up really well. I am shocked.
