Hi Everyone:

I'm going to be brewing a double IPA with my brother on the 25th. I've looked at quite a few recipes on here and this is what I came up with. Any advice/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Somos Hermanos IIPA
Batch Size: 10.00 gal
Boil Size: 12.57 gal
Color: 9.4 SRM
Bitterness: 97.0 IBUs
Boil Time: 60 min
Est OG: 1.086 (20.5° P)
Est FG: 1.017 SG (4.2° P)
ABV: 9.2%

Grains:

27 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
2 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM)
2 lbs Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM)
8.0 oz Honey Malt (25.0 SRM)
1 lbs Turbinado (10.0 SRM)

Hops:

1.5 oz Columbus (Tomahawk) [14.0%] - First Wort Hops
2.0 oz Nugget [13.0%] - Boil 45 min
2.0 oz Centennial [10.0%] - Boil 20 min
2.0 oz Cascade [5.5%] - Boil 15 min
2.0 oz Amarillo Gold [8.5%] - Boil 10 min
1.0 oz Cascade [5.5%] - Steep 0 min
1.0 oz Amarillo Gold [8.5%] - Steep 0 min
1.0 oz Centennial [10.0%] - Steep 0 min
1.0 oz Summit [17.0%] - Steep 0 min

1.0 oz Summit [17.0%] - Dry Hop 7 days

I would drop the Summit dry hop as it can leave an onion aroma. I like tons of aroma so I would double the Amarillo, Cascade, and Centennial dry hops. Just my 2 cents
 
Thank you for the reply. I've heard that about summit too, but I've used it quite a few times without the onion flavor everyone talks about. I've used it as a dry hop addition as well. Maybe I'll leave it at one ounce and then up the rest of the dry hops to two per your advice. Thanks again!
 
I usually use 4oz of dry hops in a 5 gallon IPA. A huge hop aroma is why I love the style
 
I agree. I think I will double the dry hops or at least 1.5x what i have now. Also, thinking about switching out Summit with Nelson Sauvin because I just got a pound in the mail. Thoughts?
