The lid on my cooler for my EHLT lid is hollow and flimsy. It doesn't appear it will support or at least be sturdy while supporting the weight of my stir motor. I'm looking for ideas on what material to make a new lid out of. It needs to be sturdy enough for a few pound motor. I suppose it could just on top of the cooler and would have to actually have go inside the cooler like the factory lid does. I also want it to look decent. Of course it needs to be able to stand up to moisture.
I'd prefer a ready made option as I don't have the tools to cut a nice circle that large out of material. But if need be I could get it done one way or another.

If the lid is hollow you could drill a hole in it and fill it with 2 part urethane foam.

Maybe sandwich a piece of plywood in there.

I've got a can of great stuff and had though of that. I was just looking for other ideas. foam of the stuff wouldn't be too sturdy against the weight of the motor I don't think. Maybe I can replace the top part of the lid with wood and fill the bottom part in with great stuff . The wood would give me something hard to screw the motor into.

I'm making a lid out of 2" foam board. A lip of 3/4" foam board on the bottom will keep it from sliding around.

The lid will hold two 2000 watt curved heatsticks and (later) a stir motor. I got the elements sealed up in the plumbing fixtures last night.

The lid might need a thin piece of plywood for strength, I still need to see about that.

My lid is only housing the motor and a stir bar along with a small thermowell, but that motor is heavy. I'm using the same one Pol used in his EHERMS build. I'll post back with what I come up with I get a chance to mess with it.
