so i am about to start my first partial extract kit. looking over instructions it says to use 2.5gall pot any less will decrease IBU?

i dont have a that big of pot mine is prolly like 1.5-2gal. will this affect the beer drastically?

It won't change the IBUs appreciably, but I think a great way to avoid any possible carmelization and some "thickening" of the wort is to do your smaller boil with 1/2 the extract, and save the second 1/2 of the extract for the end of the boil. That will keep the boiling wort from being so thick and heavy, giving you a better tasting beer and it will give better hops utilization.

great idea. it came w/ two cans of extract i can do one can for boil and than just add 2nd at the very end.
