this is my 3rd batch so far in my career . im brewing a "lager" beer with WLP029 German Ale/ Kölsch Yeast . This baby has been bubbling away for 2 days now and fermentation started very quickly at about 12-15 hours. i had my first experience with a blow out of the stopper and bubbler , fixed it with a tubing that fits snuggly in the carboy top . any ways . besides the blowout of the stopper i had a another 1st . a crazy like methane smell , man is it potent too , it just started today on its second and its very noticeable outside the closet i have it fermenting in. well heres my recipe , is this a normal occurance? if so why? if it isn't , should i scratch the batch?

0.5 oz. Tettnanger (Pellets, 4.50 %AA) boiled 13 min. info
WLP029 German Ale/ Kölsch Yeast

also originally it called for WYeast 1007 German Ale but the lady at my LHBS said WLP029 German Ale/ Kölsch Yeast was a fine substitute .
and the liquid malt was replaced with DME

Is is really methane sell, or is it a sulphur smell? The sulphur smell is normal and will go away.

If it's really putting off methane.... well... congratulations. You might have found a new energy source. ;)

Don't try! If you are using the 007 yeast it has a real bad way of tossing off those eggs. If it carries into the finished brew you can scrub it out with CO2 in a cornie.
