Ok, so I was very restless last night and a bit aggravated due to the lack of fermentation in a batch of Dunkel I brewed Friday night. Figuring I may need more yeast, I decided to try to salvage a pouch of Wyeast 2206 that seemed like it might be DOA due to heat from shipping on a holiday weekend (I paid for multiple cold packs but they didnt last the 5 days that FedEx had the package.
That being said, I made a starter that was 2 cups of water and 1 cup of Plain light DME, but I forgot to boil the mix before pitching the yeast
... It is bubbling today, but I dont know much about this or if this has happened to anyone else. Is this safe to use? Do I have a large risk of infection in the starter at this point? Should I pour it out and start over?
I have already pitched 1 pouch of Wyeast 2206, and I do have some pouches of dry yeast. Can I mix the 2 if need be?
Thanks
