Hello all! I'm planning on running an iron chef style "Mystery Ingredient" inter-club contest next year for my homebrew club. My plan is to unveil an ingredient at each of our meetings Jan-June. Then begin having the judging July-December. The rules are that they have to use the listed ingredient in a brew and It must be noticeable in the final product. The only twist is that each ingredient will have a banned style. (For example: If i presented them with Vanilla bean then porters and possibly stouts would be banned.) The idea being to force them out of their comfort zone by taking away the obvious and easy styles.

So far im thinking of Cereal, Jalapenos, and cans of Pie filling.

What id like help with is evil/genius ideas.
What ingredients do you think would be a challenge? and what styles would you bar for said ingredient?

Up until recent events my old LHBS and club hosted Iron Brewer. The one and only I attended the ingredient was carrot.

Past events have been jolly rancher, basil, mushroom...
