So I just finished a batch with a few friends of mine yesterday . They had never brewed and were interested in the process so I offered to show them . My problem was when I was asked when we add the yeast I simply said when the boil was finished and did not specify any further . So with those instructions my friend added the yeast immediately after the boil was finished . The wort at this point was wayyyy too hot ! What do I do ? Do I simply add more yeast and will this affect flavour ?

You will need new yeast for sure. You will want to add it ASAP once wort is at pitching temps to avoid infection.

No worries. A buddy of mine did this once long ago. He just pitched some new yeast after it had cooled to pitch temps and all turned out fine. Frankly, the dead yeast will help the newly pitched yeast by providing an energizer in the form of extra zinc, magnesium and other minerals. Just like servomyces that is sold online.

Don't be too hard on your buddy dressed in black and with a beard as he was only trying to help. I'm sure he learned his mistake and you will have a lifetime of fun together!

Your buddy pitching new yeast, as you will see soon, will give you the results you were looking for.

Happy brewing!
