It's called tough love Reinstone. And I know what you mean. Not abusive, just firm. Kids can't have everything they want even if you want to give them everything. My kids had it pretty tough growing up in some ways. I think they turned out pretty good. They aren't engineers or doctors, but they are good people and emotionally strong. I figure that's a pretty good foundation.

I'm not saying kids that get a great education are jerks or kids that don't are not. I really think it's just their raising that makes them good people or not. As a parent you always want your children to do better than you did.

The closer my date of departure nears and I'm getting the last of my things moved over there (dog & car) I feel pretty good about this adventure. Sorry for the book but if you’re an AT&T wireless customer with multiple phones on the plan this might save you some money. So hopefully this helps somebody.

I just cut my cell phone bill by almost 50%! My plan has 5 smart- phones on it and each phone has to have data. You can’t opt out of that. The lowest option per phone was 300MB and next option up was 3GB per phone. I took the 3GB because there is only a $10 difference between that and 300MB. Plus 300MB (if you go over they charge $10/100MB) and 300MB is a tenth of 3GB (if you go over it’s $10/1GB)

My wife rarely uses her phone for data so I could have gotten away with 300MB but the plan was not available for that phone. I have no idea why but I had to go with the $10 more expensive one = Rip-off! The rest of the phones are used more than 300MB but not all of them use the 3GB limit. So 5 phones, 3GB each is 15 on the plan, we used 8-9 altogether per month so a waste of 6-7gig and a lot of money each month.

Now on to why I’m smiling. I’ve had AT&T for over ten years but just recently realized they have a shared data plan. I’m probably the last to know this. We now share 10GB, went from 700 free minutes talk time to unlimited calls to any phone. We already had unlimited text messages but overseas texts had associated fees – now they’re free too.

So I cut my phone bill in half. I shudder to think of the money I wasted paying the outrageous rates.

They don't seem to want to tell you that you could be saving a ton of money. You have to ask. Luckily, I have enough phones on my account that I am always in there upgrading one and asking for a better deal.

Awesome, I just ordered a new phone so I can ditch my contract phone. Being a single guy out of college, I can't seem to find a way to benefit from a multiple line plan....

After some quick number crunching, I'll save nearly 700 bucks in the next 24 months by getting out of my contract.

Yeah, 'smart' phones are only smart at screwing you out of data. You really have to be conscious about how much you are using it (especially with email). Also, if you are one to need the latest and greatest phones, or break yours often, it is actually oftentimes cheaper to keep a month to month plan and buy your phone(s) at full price and then sell them off when the next big one comes out. Phone insurance is a scam, stay away from it (do you realize how much you spend in a year on that stuff?) and so are many of the other nickle and dime charges they lay on you. Be informed is all I can say.

For the more technically minded of you though, I found the best app for a droid phone. Its called tasker and lets you program in conditional tasks to do things for you. I use mine to turn on wifi when at home, turn on GPS only when I am using an app that I want to know where I am, automatically speak out my text messages when I am riding my motorcycle and do other battery saving functions. Costs a little to buy and some features require rooting (jailbreaking) your phone, but well worth it in my opinion.

If you have a phone that offers double minutes for life and use coupon codes you can get deals. My wife has one of the semi smart phones, same package and she gets free minutes when we are in a WIFI hot zones. Since tracfone doesn't appear to be connected to any server but selects whatever is available, I get service in spots that others don't.

Building is not necessarily cheaper than buying. The advantage to building is that you know every component and every piece of software on your system. I would never buy a computer. Definitely build but don't expect a cost saving.

It doesn't cost any thing to transfer the operating system to a new computer.Upgrading can cost $100. I'd suggest that you install whatever operating system you intend to use and check it out. It doesn't change the price of hardware.
