people have lost respect for everything. if the youth don't respect little old ladies walking down the street, what are we left with when they are old enough to run things? (I know its in Romania...)
$hit like that is why every elder in this state is strapped. they don't trust the youth. that guy would be dead if he had pulled that here. his friends would be screaming and crying while they were running away. NOT recording it on a cellphone cam. crazy times.

The Romans thought blind gladiators were absolutely hilarious. They also made a slave's testimony, even in cases involving relatively minor matters, inadmissable unless it could be proven that he had been tortured first. I say he because raping a female slave might or might not have made her testimony admissable... but it was a relatively common practice anyway, because... hey. This was the sanctioned lot of the undertaker, by the way... the man responsible for providing the deceased with a dignified burial.

Also, the 1950's, that utopian "more innocent time," was rife with sanctioned racism, sexism, homophobia and general dickheadery which could be found on the front pages of even the more respected publications of the time. Dont even look at an old Betty Boop cartoon if you dont want the "we used to have more respect for people back when" thesis to collapse on itself.

So, frankly, the idea that one old person being swung around in the backwater of Romania by a drunken young person is somehow proof that we as a world on the whole have LESS respect for humanity now than we used to is complete, utter, and total yak patty.

With all that said, I'd like to put that guy in a cell for just one day with Adabisi from HBO's "OZ". Not the actor... the character.
