I brewed thursday night, aerated my wort nicely (stone) and pitched a packet of safale 05 directly on top of the foam. My fermenter is a blichmann conical and has an excellent tight seal that is almost impossible to screw up. No bubbles. I've taken refractometer measurements each day and the SG is falling as expected (started at 1.060 and is at 1.028 tonight) and I can see the active yeast and taste the alcohol in the samples but I'm really confused as to why there is no bubbles. Not only no bubbles, but the water line in the airlock hasn't budged a fraction of an inch since thursday so its trapped no gas whatsoever. stopper is fitted in tight, I reset it yesterday just to make sure.

I know i shouldn't worry because my measurements aren't letting me down but I would be happy with just 1 millimeter of movement in the damn airlock for psychological reasons.

If you've got a significant amount of fermentation and you're not getting any airlock bubbles, you've got gas leaking out somewhere somehow. Not sure if that is good news or bad news for you. :drunk:

yeah you guys were right. I decided to reseat the lid and when I took it off i saw a small little trail on the brim were some krausen residue looked like it had shawshanked its way out in between the metal and the rubber gasket. gonna take more care next time, I put this thing on the first time at 2am after a long night of a disaster brew session.

Same thing has happened to me with my Blichmann. Put som keg lube on the seal and you will be good to go. Just be prepared to shell out 20 something bucks if you tighten the T- handle to much. I did that too, but some rubber cement and painter's tape held it together!!!!

My buckets are bubbling to much. The kolsch yeast had me looking for the rotten eggs in the basement.

Me thinks Yooper enjoys dropping the double entendre's.

( I hope thats the right spelling because I can't find a spell check link).:drunk:
