I was allowed to take a brand new commercial reddiwip cooler home from work today for free to use as a fermentation chamber. I've never used one before. Any recommendations on how to use it?

Get a reliable accurate thermometer in there. Look up optimal fermentation temperature for whatever yeast you're using. Realize the first 2-5 days of fermentation the beer will be 3-5 degrees warmer than your chamber temp. I find using a computer fan inside gives you a better temperature it prevents stratification of temperatures and helps with heat transfer. I just stick screws into a comp can to give it legs like a table then find a 6-12v electronic device charger that's rated for the fans current draw.

Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of the computer fan. I'm definitely going to try that.

You lucky dog, don't even have to open the lid. I would install a mirror on top at 45 degrees and move it into the living room, that way you can sit on the couch and watch er bubble.

Great "find"!! I agree re the temp controller and fan. You also need to block out the light from the glass sliding doors to prevent "light strike" which will cause you to have "skunked" beers. Also consider a heat source if you locate this is an area where it might be exposed to cold outside temps.

How would y'all recommend mounting the temp control probe?
