I Freakin HATE Pliny the Elder!

It made my Vienna/Columbus SMaSH taste like utter and complete crap when I had a pint after the Pliny.

I'm emailing Russian River and demanding they place a warning on the damned label NOT to sample other lower IBU beers after inbibing the Elder. It's bad for your moral as a homebrewer and it's just not fair to any other beers. I'm going to ask for a refund of the price of my batch of SMaSH now that I will constantly compare it to the Pliny. Maybe even ask for damages since my poor crushed brewing ego will take many batches and lots of bright, shinny new SS equipment to repair.

Many reason that it should be pronounced Plinny, much like the ancient explorer's name was pronounced. Others argue Pliney to be pronounced with the long "I" which would be more gramaticaly correct for the English language. I tend to go with what the Brewer calls it, Pliney!!

My dad lives 15 miles from Lagunitas. The one I had tonight came from Bodega Ave. Market in Petaluma.

I've been trying to find Moonlight beers while I'm in CA; so far the only one I've found is Death & Taxes at Hopmonk in Sebastopol. They also have Pliny. And Houblon Chouffe. And the only Berliner Weiss I've ever had. And Duchesse de Bourgogne on tap!

I dunno I've sampled every alternative "not as good as..." beer in this thread so far and while they are all great beers, fresh draft Pliny still tops 'em in my book.

IMHO it's great just to have all these great beers on the market.:rockin:

The issue is trying to consume anything mortal after. Damnit, I don't want my homebrew bashed by having it follow something like Pliny.

Russian River owes me BIG time. I want a Sabco system and brewers education to be able to match, yea, even better the stuff they stuff in those bottles!

Excuse my sarcasm, I actually liked Hop Stoopid, the first time I tried it, but to be honest purchasing a bottle of it can be like Russian Roulette! Moonlight has some great beers, HopMonk is a great place. Have you made your way to Sonoma? Many good places, some have Moonlight beers on tap. I see you are from Austin, great town, my sister lives there!

Excuse my sarcasm, I actually liked Hop Stoopid, the first time I tried it, but to be honest purchasing a bottle of it can be like Russian Roulette!

I think that's the case with a LOT of hoppy beers. I thought Rogue I2PA was awful. I bottled some of my hop-tea-infused 2-row/Liberty SMaSH and drove it out to California - it went totally lifeless, while the beer straight from the refrigerated keg is awesomely crisp and fruity.

Where do I have to go to get Moonlight? Toronado?
