Which reading part do I read for the original gravity

The one pictured in the bottom photo. The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, etc. represent SG's of 1.010, 1.020, 1.030, etc. The fine divisions are at increments of 0.002 SG.

Thanks a lot, I did check but conflicting views, just one more thing it came up as 1.044. I figure that's very sugary for a stout? First brew after 8 years.

Is 1.044 your startinf gravity or final gravity?
 
That will be a fine stout, if anything it is on the lower side for the style. Remember to account for temperature when measuring gravity, as there will be some offset with high temps. I linked a calc if you need it.

The temperature was around the 36 c mark maybe lower. I will study the link you sent. Your help is very much appreciated :mug:
