Huge Road Trip: Where should I stop?

Just stopped at the Flying Saucer in Memphis. Not impressed. The food was good.

Ordered a flight of sea dog wild blueberry, Blackstone nut brown, Blackstone porter, yazoo hop project, and finchs imperial IPA. Everything feeled waterey... Beer was served not very cold (and its hot here!). Not sure if they clean the lines often enough or if beer sits in the keg too long.

The finchs had marijuana-esque taste....

Oh well, time to go to my cousins, BBQ, and drink some other beer.

Wow. Very surprised to hear that. The Flying Saucer in Nashville was awesome. On a 2 night trip we stopped in both nights. Great selection. No complaints on quality there.

Yeah, maybe the Nashville one sees mire traffic or sumthin. I also noticed all the pints that were being served were full to the brim with no head. I guess some people want quantity over quality but I appreciate a nice 1/2-3/4" head on my beers.

Well, starting the long trek home. Left Memphis this morning. Well be stopping in the Oklahoma city are to camp for the night.

Considering this wasn't a beercation specifically, I'm pretty happy with how things turned out. Finally got to try Founders and wasn't disappointed. Trying to convince my parents to stop at Le Cumbre in Arizona. Well see....

Well I hope you manage a stop in Arkansas...Diamond Bear (I think that's the brewery) makes some interesting brews...all canned.

Founder's is, in my opinion, one of the best overall breweries out there. At least as far as the bigger craft breweries with fairly big distribution. I haven't had a beer from them that I didn't think was at least very good if not great.

I agree. The only one I thought was a miss was devil dancer. More of a barley wine than a triple IPA. Rubaeus was a huge surprise for me.

Stopped in Albuquerque for the night. Went out to dinner at the prickly pear. Food was good. Had a Marble Red (more of a mild IPA than a red ale). Also had a Le Cumbre Elevated IPA... Phenomenal! One of the best beers this whole trip.

Left the restaurant and walked into a huge thunderstorm! Stopped at Sprouts and picked up a 4 pack of the Elevated IPA.

This is probably it for beer on this trip. Driving to Williams tomorrow, the Grand Canyon on Sun then home to good ol Petaluma on Monday.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I wish I could have stopped everywhere but there is only so much time in the day. Planning a true beercation next summer to Colorado. Until then, cheers!
