So I want to brew a saison in time for spring. I am just learning that I need to be able to get my fermentation temperatures up to around 80F but I can't do that in my apartment right now.

I have a fermentation jacket to help regulate the temperature (I am comfortable using it to cool and chill my beer) but how might I increase the temperature of the fermenter? I don't want to have to buy anything too exotic or expensive so any cheap and do it yourself techniques would be appreciated!

I use a fermwrap to heat my fermenter. http://www.morebeer.com/products/fermwrap-heater.html

These require a temp regulator, which is one of the first things every homebrewer should have. If you don't have one, there are ~$40 DIY temp controlers described on these forums.

HOWEVER, Wyeast 3711 is an amazing yeast that doesn't require these high ferm temps, which don't even always work with that other strain.

I use a 20 dollar adjustable aquarium heater submerge in a water bath in a cooler. It's rock solid.

Depending on the gravity of your wort, it may heat up on it's own.
I've warmed fermenting beer into the seventies by setting it next to the baseboard heater. The house is 65-68, cooler at night. But the heaters are hot.
