I'm still a new brewer and I made the recipe for IPA from john palmer's book.
T60 min 1.8 kg of pale malt extract
T60 min 28 G Nugget
T15 Min 57 G EK Goldings
T 5 min 1.8 kg of pale malt extract

Dry hop with 28g of EK Goldings.

The beer turned out very good but I would like to make a more hoppy version of it. What would I have to do? can I just used more hops for dry hopping?

Yes, 28gm is about the least you can dry-hop and still call it an IPA... at least on this coast.:D You can just up the amounts or try bolder hops. Goldings are pretty tame; they taste like carrots to me.

It will completely change the character of the beer (you basically have a nice English IPA there), but look to American C-hops like Chinook, Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade, or the newer, vogueier Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, and Summit.

Some hop variety descriptions.

I'm assuming the beer has the bitterness you were looking for and you're just asking how to make the flavor and aroma more... racy.
 
Thanks, I really enjoyed the Amarillo hops when I tried it in other micro brew beer. If I wanted to use it instead of the EK would I have to use it in the 15 min addition ? how would that work ?

I enjoy American IPA better. This one if good, I'm glad I did.

Make an Amarillo add at 5 minutes and use it for dry hopping and you'll have a Left Coast IPA.
 
Overall only 28g (1 oz) bittering hops is pretty light for an IPA and the same amount for dry hopping is fairly light as well. If you wanted to keep the same hops you could easily multiply all of the additions by 1.5 and be fine.

Overall as other have pointed out you could try different hop varieties. I personally prefer to use Chinook as the first addition then the Amarillo/Simcoe combo for my IPAs.

p.s. - did anyone else have to multiply 3.5 times 8 to get the conversion rate from grams to ounces? ;)
 
The bittering addition is sufficient, that is 45IBU's right there, plus another 15IBU's from the 15min addition makes it 60ibu's for 1.060 brew. 1:1 IBU/SG ratio.

The east kent golding hops are traditional for english style brews. If you want Sierra Nevada Pale Ale style "more hoppy" than you need to use American varieties of hops like Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Columbus, Chinook, Simcoe, etc.

Also up the dry hops to about 2oz (56ish grams).
 
So if I understand right I could do something like this ? change the EK for Amarillo

T60 min 1.8 kg of pale malt extract
T60 min 28 G Nugget
T15 Min 57 G Amarillo
T 5 min 1.8 kg of pale malt extract

Dry hop with 56g of Amarillo
